Smithers, British Columbia V0J 2N6 · read 30 July 2026
Four rows of your rate card
still say 2024.
Footer says 2026
A hunter looking at a fifteen thousand dollar package cannot tell whether he is reading this season's number or one from two seasons ago. At that price he assumes the worst.
Your packages, exactly as published
| Hunt | Length | Ratio | Price | Labelled |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rut moose | 8 hunting days | 1 : 1 | $15,000 USD | 2024 |
| Rut moose | 8 hunting days | 2 : 1 | $12,500 USD | 2024 |
| Mountain goat | 8 hunting days | 1 : 1 | $16,500 USD | no year |
| Mountain goat | 8 hunting days | 2 : 1 | $15,000 USD | no year |
| Black bear | 5 hunting days | 1 : 1 | $7,000 USD | 2024 |
| Black bear | 5 hunting days | 2 : 1 | $5,500 USD | 2024 |
Black bear added to a moose or goat hunt
$1,500 USD trophy fee
Moose added to a goat hunt
$5,000 USD trophy fee
4 of the six rows carry the year 2024, printed on your own page. The two goat packages — the most expensive on the card — carry no year at all, which is arguably worse than the wrong one.
Notes
01
Four rows of your rate card still say 2024
The moose package reads “2024 1x1 Guided Rut Moose Hunt” and the black bear rows are headed “2024 Hunt Prices”. The footer of the same site says 2026. A hunter looking at a fifteen thousand dollar package cannot tell whether he is reading this season’s number or one from two seasons ago, and at that price he assumes the worst.
02
The goat hunt carries no year at all
Which is arguably worse than the wrong one: the two most expensive packages on the card — sixteen and a half thousand and fifteen thousand US dollars — sit between rows that say 2024 and a footer that says 2026, with nothing of their own.
03
There is nothing to fill in
No enquiry form on the home page. A hunter who has read the rate card at eleven at night has a Gmail address and a telephone number, and the enquiry either happens tomorrow or it happens with somebody else.
04
The whole front page is under two thousand characters
Eight pages of navigation over about a page and a half of writing. The country, the camps and the reason a hunter should pick this outfit over the three others he is comparing are all somewhere other than the page he lands on.
Your menu is: Home · About · Our Hunts · Rates & Packages · Accommodations · Photos · Testimonials · Contact. Species offered: Mountain goat, Moose, Black bear, Wolf, Lynx.
What already works
The rate card exists, and it is detailed
Every package, the number of hunting days, the guiding ratio, the currency, and the trophy fees for add-on species. Most outfitters make a hunter ask, and the asking is where people quietly drop out.
Five species, one territory
Goat, moose, black bear, wolf and lynx, which is a full autumn and a full winter rather than one short season.
It is home ground
Smithers, in the Bulkley Valley. A hunter flying in from Texas is met by somebody who lives where the hunt is, which is not true of every outfit on the list he is working through.
What would change
One year, on one record, printed on every row
The card then rolls to the next season in one edit instead of six, and it can never again show two different years on one page.
An enquiry form under the rate card
Species, package, party size and where to write back. It lands in the same inbox — it just lands at the moment the hunter has finished reading the price.
Say what is left
Open, few spaces, or booked, against each package. It is the most persuasive thing an outfitter can publish and it costs nothing but the honesty.
A page about the country
Not adjectives — where the camps are, how the days run, what the terrain asks of a hunter. That is the page that decides between you and the next outfit on his list.
